Lease loyalty program and conquest offers: who qualifies
A lease loyalty program rewards you for staying with a brand: the carmaker or its finance company gives you a credit toward your next lease or loan, or waives some lease-end charges, when your next car comes from the same brand. A conquest offer is the reverse, a credit for switching from a competing brand.
Two kinds of offer
Stay with the brand, or switch to it.
Loyalty
A credit toward your next lease or loan, or some lease-end charges waived, when you stay with the same brand.
Who it suitsYou own or lease that brand now, or did recently
Conquest
A credit for switching from a competing brand. The brand decides which competing makes count.
Who it suitsYou own or lease a competing brand, with proof in your name
Terms change month to month. Most shoppers qualify for one or the other, usually not both.
Key takeaways
Who qualifies usually comes down to what you own or lease now (or did recently), proof in your name, and often leasing through the brand's own finance company, and the terms change month to month.
How a lease loyalty program works
Loyalty offers show up in two places:
From the carmaker, on the next car. BMW's Loyalty Credit, which ran through September 30, 2026, went to customers who had owned or leased a BMW in the previous 12 months and then leased or financed a new BMW through BMW Financial Services. It required proof of ownership or a BMW Financial Services account number, credit approval, and a participating dealer.
From the finance company, at lease end. Mercedes-Benz Financial Services says that if you replace your off-lease car with a new Mercedes-Benz, it credits your account toward excess wear and use charges, up to a set cap, and if you also lease or finance the new car through it, you get a credit for the vehicle turn-in fee (as of September 2026). Toyota Financial Services says customers who have financed or leased with it before may qualify for benefits that include a waived disposition fee.
Pull-ahead offers, which let current lessees end a lease early when they take a new car from the same brand, are a close cousin; they're covered in your lease-end options.
What a conquest offer is
A conquest offer pays you to switch brands. The brand decides which competing makes count, how recently you must have owned or leased one, and what proof it wants, such as a current registration or lease agreement. Conquest offers can be limited to certain models and months, so check the brand's current offers page or ask the dealer the month you shop, and get the qualifying rules in writing.
Who qualifies for a lease loyalty program
You may not need to trade in. BMW's September 2026 loyalty credit counted anyone who had owned or leased a BMW in the prior 12 months, so a car you'd already sold or returned could still qualify you.
Owning can count as much as leasing. In that example, owners and lessees qualified alike. Lease-end credits from a finance company, like the Mercedes-Benz Financial Services ones, are for people returning a leased car.
The name on the paperwork matters. Bring the registration, the lease agreement or the finance account number for the car that qualifies you. If that car is in a family member's name, ask whether the program covers household members before you count on it.
The lender may be part of the deal. BMW's credit required leasing or financing through BMW Financial Services, and the Mercedes-Benz Financial Services turn-in fee credit requires the next lease or loan to be with it.
Who qualifies
It usually comes down to three things.
1
The car you have, or had
What you own or lease now, or did recently. BMW's September 2026 credit looked back 12 months.
2
Proof in your name
Registration, lease agreement or finance account number. For a family member's car, ask first.
3
The brand's finance company
Often you must lease or finance through it. BMW's credit required BMW Financial Services.
Stacking loyalty, conquest and other offers
Read the compatibility line. Program terms say what an offer can't be combined with, and it varies. In September 2026, BMW's military and first-responder incentive could be combined with other available offers, while Hyundai's Military Program couldn't be combined with its First Responders Program. More on those in military and graduate programs.
Loyalty or conquest, usually not both. Loyalty depends on owning the brand and conquest on owning a rival, so most shoppers qualify for one or the other. If you have cars from both, ask whether the two can be combined.
Keep the credit visible. Ask for the price before incentives and each incentive as its own line, so a loyalty or conquest credit doesn't quietly replace a discount the dealer would have given anyway.
Ask what qualifies you, in writing. The FTC says dealers that promote rebates, discounts or special prices have to clearly explain what it takes to qualify.
In California
State EV incentives stack. If your next car is a zero-emission vehicle, the California Air Resources Board says its MyFirstEV incentive can be combined with other CARB programs and with non-CARB incentives. See leasing an EV in California.
Clearer prices from October 1, 2026. California's CARS Act requires a total price in dealer ads and first written communications that mention a specific vehicle or financing terms, which makes it easier to see whether a loyalty or conquest credit is really coming off the price.
What to ask before you sign
Is there a loyalty or conquest offer on this model this month, and until what date?
Do I qualify with the car I have now, or with one I had in the past year?
Do I have to lease or finance through the brand's finance company?
What proof do you need, and does a family member's car count?
What does it combine with: lease specials, military, graduate or EV incentives?
If my lease is ending, are there lease-end credits for wear, the turn-in fee or the disposition fee if I stay with the brand?
If your lease is ending, the My lease is ending tool lays out your options with your lender's rules.
How 021 helps
021 Auto Leasing gets several dealers to quote the same car, and you get one written quote with the payment, drive-off, term, miles, taxes, fees and 021's fee before you agree to anything. If a dealer has already quoted you a loyalty or conquest deal, send us the complete quote: we'll beat it or tell you it's already a good deal.
Keep the credit visible
Ask for each incentive as its own line.
- 1The price before incentivesSo a credit doesn't quietly replace a discount the dealer would have given anyway.
- 2The loyalty or conquest creditAsk what qualifies you, and until what date, in writing.
- 3What it combines withEach offer's terms list what it can't be combined with, and it varies.
- 4The lenderAsk if you have to lease or finance through the brand's finance company.
- 5Lease-end creditsIf your lease is ending, ask about credits for wear, the turn-in fee or the disposition fee.
